A: Sunday worship begins at 10:00AM and is held in the
sanctuary. The main entrance to the sanctuary is from Main

Q2:
What type of service do you hold?
A: At WNUPC, we hold a blended service meaning we incorporate
both traditional hymns as well as contemporary music as we
worship God. On most Sundays, we have scripture readings from
the Old and New Testaments, a time of corporate prayer, the
pastor's sermon, and three or four songs in the styles of
traditional hymns or contemporary music. From September through
May, the Chancel Choir shares in worship through the ministry of
music. Throughout the year, the service incorporates the
elements of the Christian calendar with regards to Lent, Easter,
and Advent.

Q3: Is nursery care
available during the worship service?
A: Yes! Nursery care is available during the worship service for
infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers. Older children are
encouraged to attend Sunday School which runs concurrent with
the worship service, or, they are welcome to stay for worship.
The nursery is located on the first floor adjacent to the
Fellowship Hall.

Q6: Do I have to be a
member of your church to receive communion?

Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Communion is served by
Elders of the church who pass the elements on trays to the
congregation. The bread and wine are portioned for individual
use.

Q7: What types of Christian
Education programs are available?

Q8: Whom do I contact to
volunteer?
A: We are glad that you feel a calling to use the gifts, skills,
and talents that God has imparted upon you to serve His church.
There are so many ways to volunteer that it would be difficult
to list them all on this page. However, this list may point you
to the right committee or leader.
¤ Greet
worshippers before the service, be an usher - Music and Worship Cmte
¤ Reader during
worship, serve communion - Music and Worship Cmte
¤ Teach youth Sunday School, Youth Fellowship,
after-school program -
Christian Ed Cmte (requires current Pennsylvania Act 34
and Act 151
clearances)
¤ Sing in the choir, play handbells, or play an
instrument - Music Director
¤ Host a small group - Pastor
¤
Work in the office - Personnel Cmte
¤ Outdoor landscaping and grounds upkeep -
Property Cmte
¤ Visit shut-ins - Mission Cmte
¤ Serve on Session - Nominating Cmte
If the area in which you wish to
volunteer is not listed, it probably means we just haven't
thought of serving God and the community in that way! In that case, contact
someone on Session (their names are listed on the weekly church
bulletin) and ask for guidance.

Q9: I'd like to become a
member; how do I do that?
A: You may become a member of WNUPC by "Affirmation of Faith" or
"Transfer of Letter." If you have never belonged to a church,
you will probably join by "Affirmation of Faith." In this case,
the pastor would meet with you over several weeks to discuss
God's unfailing love for each of us, the gift of salvation
through Jesus Christ, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. He
might also help you to understand the responsibilities and
commitment of being a member, and explain a little bit - just a
little bit - about the church government.
To join by "Transfer of Letter" means you are already a member
of another church but you wish to become a member of WNUPC. In
this case, you would request a transfer letter form your current
church asking them to transfer your membership to our church.
This letter generally indicates that you have already affirmed
by faith the you believe in God, the salvation of Jesus Christ,
and the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Membership into the church requires a vote by Session. Upon
approval, you are formally received into membership during a
regular worship service. There's usually a reception with light
refreshments following the service - we at WNUPC celebrate
everything with a meal!

Q10:
What does your church profess as
its belief in God and the Trinity?
A: We believe in the omnipresent, omnipotent God who created us
to worship Him. We believe that none of us are immune from sin
and must receive salvation through the sacrifice and
resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord. We also believe in
the presence of the Holy Spirit who guides us in our lives. God,
Christ Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are individual, and yet, are
part of a Triune God.
We believe the Holy Bible is the authoritative Word of God and
that its message is timeless. We believe in the power of prayer
- we are a praying congregation and that grace alone is
sufficient for us to receive eternal life.
