PW Purpose
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study, to support the mission of the church worldwide, to work for justice and peace, and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (USA) and witnesses to the promise of God’s Kingdom.
United Circle meets on the 3rd Wed., January-May, September -December. 12:00-2:30
- Bring your lunch and share dessert celebrating members’ birthdays
- Short business meeting planning future events
- Bible Study lesson presented by circle members
- Pray for and send cards to shut-ins and congregational members who are ill
- In May and December, we plan a Gathering with a luncheon and a speaker from a mission or charity and collect items to donate to the organization
- Contribute monthly to the funding of WNPW
WNPW Coordinating Team meets 4 times a year, conducting the business to plan the yearly events and mission projects.
- Mar: Participate in the World Day of Prayer service in the community
- Apr: Prepare and serve the Maundy Thursday dinner to the congregation
- May: Attend the Redstone PW Spring Retreat at Pine Springs Camp and support the mission focus of the event; Present the PW Birthday Offering to the congregation
- Jun: Recognize the high school graduates in our congregation during the church service
- Nov: Attend the Redstone PW Fall Gathering and support the mission focus
- Dec: Organize Food Baskets and deliver them to residents in the local senior living center, collect winter gloves, scarves, etc. on a Mitten Tree and place them in the Blessing Boxes, send Christmas cards, with a Giant Eagle gift card included, to shut-ins.
- Throughout the year toilet articles are purchased for the clients at the Food Pantry held at our church each month.
- Monetary donations are given to a variety of charities and missions, including groups in the local school district.
- To support our giving, 2 fund-raisers are held each year: Apple Dumpling Sales in April and October.
- Sewing Day is held the 4th Wednesday of each month, except the summer, from 9-12:00. Lap robes are prepared and donated to residents in local nursing homes.
- We help set-up, serve and clean-up a catered meal after a funeral for a congregation member.
